Bring it on!! :))
Review
She is the fourth successor of a Yakuza family, but she is decided not to take over the family business. She wants to follow her dead father's steps and become a great teacher. This is how she ends up as the home-room teacher of 3-D, a Shirokin High School class where any calm is out of question. You would think: are those kids really that heartless? Yankumi knows they are not. Step by step, she discovers that beneath the masks, pure hearts are hiding, ready to fight for their dearest ones, ready to protect them. And she does the same thing. she risks everything to be there for them, to take care and prevent. Everytime her students are threatened, or in danger, she switches to Yakuza
mode, and the happy-go-lucky girl becomes a fearless lioness, ready to harm anyone who wants to touch her precious students. But, fighting is not the only thing she does. She also takes the time to teach the students life lessons, to tell them about things that really matter in life. She tells them about friendship, about bonds, about love, which are the keys of life, not mathematics, or English, or correct Kanji-s. She is a true teacher, one that will win the rebellious students' hearts.
A wonderful drama I highly recommend! ♥
And here are my dearest reasons for started watching Gokusen. At first, I wanted to skip the first season and run to watch "Gokusen 2" for Akame, (which is my newest, favourite OTP. ^.^' ), but after finding out that Matsuyama Ken'ichi plays in the fist season, I couldn't do that anymore. I had to watch it!
>
Gloomy Jun and Orange Ken'ichi! Kawaii ♥
Matsumoto Jun was as awesome in a "bad guy" role as always!! Gosh, it reminded me of Domyouji Tsukasa, though he was much more serious in this drama! :) This boy was born to be an actor! And then, there was the so much talented Oguri Shun, with his lovely hair ^.^ I melted while seeing this:
I will. *melts*
Quotes
Yankumi's words are very inspiring! I really needed this now, since I'm preparing a speech myself ^.^
“Humans are creatures that can’t do anything by themselves. Don’t abandon your friend! Who cares if you get beaten up and get all worn out?!” (Yankumi, ep. 2)
*Yankumi punches Noda in the face*
"Does that allow you to do something so rotten? Huh? Didn’t you use to like Fujiyama-sensei? Just because she brushed you off and your love wasn’t reciprocated, you turned around and snitched on her, huh? Is that how you treat someone you like? That’s despicable! Is that the extent of your love? When Fujiyama-sensei rejected you, did you feel the pain in your heart? It hurt, didn’t it? And now that you’ve done to her, did your pain go away? Are you happy now? If … if that’s true, then you don’t have the right to love anybody!” (Yankumi to Noda, ep.4)
“Yankumi: Spring is a reason to love.
Shin: Spring is over. “
(Yankumi, Shin, ep.5)
“Kuma, when it comes to love, you gotta throw a strike. Be a man and throw a strike head-on! Go for it!” (Yankumi, ep. 5)
“For a man, a time will come when you will have to fight to protect something. When that time comes, how much you can do will determine your worth. The basic form of fighting is one-on-one bare-handed. Don’t mix that with cowardly violence. Fighting is done with a passion to protect something dear to you.” (Yankumi, ep.5)
“Even when something bad happens, you gotta pick yourself up and keep going. Isn’t that what life is all about?” (Yankumi, ep.6)
“You only get to see the inside of people when you drop all your pretence and hang out with them. The outer appearance and the inside aren’t the same, are they? What do you know from a person from looks or title alone? You can’t see what’s inside. Do you know just by looking that this guy *looks at Shin* would endure anything for his sister? *looks at Uchi* Can you tell that this guy takes really good care of his mother? Can you tell that all these guys have kind hearts and have compassion for others?
At first, I didn’t know that myself. But after spending a lot of time with them … I began to see that my students are kind-hearted … people who understand duty and compassion. I believe in these guys, in my students!” (Yankumi, ep.10).
"They are not completely mature yet, so they sometimes make mistakes and do the wrong thing. But please don’t label them as delinquents and write them off for that. It’s just that these guys make a few more mistakes than others. That’s how they are. It was only for three months, but very day was really fun and fulfilling. I’m proud to have been a teacher to those Shirokin 3-D students who have their hearts in the right place. “ (Yankumi, ep.12)
“You idiots! Stop monkeying around! What do you mean by no fun? School is not for playing but for studying! Studying is not for getting good grades but for training yourself to overcome hardships. People cannot leave alone. That’s why they learn to live with others. School is there for you to learn things like that. That’s why you need to attend regularly and graduate properly. “ (Yankumi, ep.12)
“You guys listen carefully. You guys may not be good academically, but you guys have the most important thing as human beings. Right here. *points to her heart* So go live your life with pride, confidence, and dignity.” (Yankumi, ep. 12)
“What’s wrong with me protecting you? If that is not acceptable, I’ll be willing to quit teaching.” (Yankumi, SP.)
“I understand how you’re feeling … You feel irritated … You have complains, too. But there is no-one in life who has no complains. Everyone is equal. You are just 18. Exams or haunting jobs, which forces you to decide your future. But it isn’t that easy. You shall go off track, struggle and then you stop, and go somewhere else, and come back again. Isn’t that how we live our lives? Isn’t that how we find our own ideal lives? Please don’t give up that easily. Don’t run away from hardships. Please don’t answer the most difficult question in life. “ (Yankumi, SP.)
“Your students can feel one’s kindness or pain. “ (Tetsu - friend of Yankumi's, SP.)
“I have been jealous about the others. My friends have their own dreams, and yet I realized that I had no dreams.“ (Shin, SP.)
“S: To places I’ve never been before. I want to try out something that I’ve never done before. There’s always a possibility that I might find things I really want to do for the rest of my life. Or maybe not.
Y: I bet you can find it. As long as you look straight forward and keep on searching.” (Shin, Yankumi, SP.)
“I remember your words at that time: <
“A man is not so clever. A man just forgets what’s really important to him, distracted by silly things. Disposition, appearance and something in that nature. And these stuffs are difficult to handle. One cannot take them by himself. “ (Yankumi’s grandfather)
“Noda!! These are your buddies, aren’t they? Aren’t these your buddies that you can trust? Because of your ego and disposition are you really OK to lose a life long treasure?” (Yankumi, SP.)
“We crawled up so many obstacles together. That’s … That’s how buddies are meant to be.” (Yankumi, SP.)
“<>That’s what I thought. I was wrong. Here, at this school, there is only one, one and only though, that I could trust wholeheartedly. Here, I found real buddies. Together we fought, together we did silly things, together we shed tears, we were buddies here. Instead of winning in fist fights, we’d rather be beaten together. We were buddies here. I’d like to be a life long buddy with them. Everyone goes on his way from today. That has no impact one me. We are buddies. Graduation gives me this much sadness, I did not know that. From tomorrow, I cannot walk through the Shirokin’s Gate. I cannot go to 3-D’s dirty class room. I cannot hear Yankumi’s scolding voice. There would be no more … I feel really sad. *smiles*. Yet, I might meet various people. By meeting many people we shall learn many things. These are very important factors in life. It is Yankumi who taught us that way. *all students sit up* Yankumi! Thank you! *all students bow in front of her* We hereby promise with a memory of people meeting here, with knowledge we have learnt here, with a pride of being graduates of Shirokin High School, with all our might and desires, to look and live straight from this day forward. For these 3 years, thank you very much! *students bow and everyone applauds* ”. (Sawada Shin, SP.)
“You guys have taught me if I tackled the problems with all of my heart you would open your heart to respond. Like you, something so undoubtedly straight .. and to be honest it might be rare to find, possibly I would face bigger problems in future, but yet, that’s why, I think … I was so blessed … to have you in my class. Wholeheartedly, I think I was blessed to have you as my 1st graduate. Thank you, all. My term as your home-room teacher expires today. As a teacher, there is one thing I must tell you last. A buddy mean … no matter how far you live apart, no matter how many years you could not see, is a long life treasure. Cherish it. Never, ever forget about it. " (Yankumi, SP.)
“Yankumi … You said you would be our teacher up until today. You’ll be a home-room teacher for long time. Forever. And ever.” (Shin, SP.)
