Ryu's Saddest but a Good Decision
We know that Yuto Nakajima A MEMBER of HSJ said they are practicing as “JUMP”
But after 2 days, Ryutaro Morimoto asked for a closed conference, and He said
Ryutaro; Being with JUMP again is very great experience. And I miss them so much. But after the unpleasant things happened Hey Say Jump welcomed me so warm and I’m so thankful for that. But as for the advice from my parents, I should focus on my studies. That’s why I’m leaving JUMP for good.
Interviewer; So you quit? is there a chance for you again to go back?
Ryutaro; I don’t want to make promises. I really want to be apart of JUMP. But my studies are more important. Actually, even though I’m not already in Jump. I will not forget to support them. For me they are my Second Family.

Ryu's 100 questions
1. How will you propose?
Please protect me! (laughs) (*cries* I wish I could’ve protected you from what happened Ryu-chan ;__;)
2. What’s your charm point?
My sort-of-thin eye brows. I don’t like them myself, but Yama-chan and Hikaru-kun often say “They’re so soft” and touch them.
3. If you were to put your personality into one phrase?
Negative. Just a while ago, I messed up on my lines and I got really depressed…But I’m really quick at recovering too (laughs).
4. What’s your dominant hand? Foot?
I hold my chopsticks with my right hand, and when I throw a ball, it’s with my left hand. So maybe my dominant hand is both. And then, when I kick, it’s with my right foot.
5. Your vision?
My right is 0.2, left is 0.3. Normally, I can’t be without my glasses.
6. What’s your weak point?
I’m ticklish. (D’awww, so cute *tickles*)
7. What’s a mini boast that you have?
Train maniac
8. A part of your body that you worry about?
Probably the part that my face is big. (What’s!? Your face is not big Ryu-tan, it’s fine the way it is!)

Boxer pants. Before I realized it, I started wearing them.

A trainer, and the bottom are jerseys. Pajamas have buttons and stuff on them, so it’s a bit hard to sleep in.

When I first go to sleep, I lie facing up normally, but before I realize it, I’m facing down. My sleep posture is really bad.
12. How long do you spend in the bath?
It’s always about 20 minutes. The longest is 2 hours. At times like that, I’ve fallen asleep in the bath tub without knowing (laughs).
13. What do you wash first in the bath?
I start from the head.
14. What’s an imitation that you’re good at?
The imitation of a baby chick that appears in an American animation. (I can only think of Tweety lol.)

Clothing stores in my home town or Shibuya. Whenever I go to Shibuya, it’s always with my parents.

A bag to put in clothes that I wear for lessons.

Vegetables, all sorts…Things like tomatoes should just disappear from this world~~ (cries) (but I love tomatoes! They can’t disappear from this world xD)

When I messed up on my lines when JUMP was filming for a TV show. I cried in the dressing room.

When shooting for Myojo’s calendar. When all the members were playing soccer together, Hikaru-kun tripped on purpose and I burst out laughing.

J.Jimusho Sold Ryu
I came across this Ryutaro related article on Men’s Cyzo over the weekend. Yes, yes, I know that Men’s Cyzo is a tabloid and as such isn’t the most reliable source of information out there, but I think the article is interesting enough and also somewhat plausible, at least if you don’t take it as undeniable fact but rather the opinion of the unnamed entertainment industry insider it quotes. I’m not gonna translate the whole article because it’s tedious and I don’t have the time to do it. But I can give you a quick overview of the main points of the article. So here goes…
The first paragraph of the article quickly describes the situation as we already know it: Shuukan Josei published two photos of Ryutaro smoking a cigarette when he was 14 and 15 years old. It was confirmed by Johnny’s Jimusho and Ryutaro was suspended indefinitely from all entertainment activities.
The article then claims that the pictures were taken by a former colleague of Ryutaro‘s, i.e. a former Johnny’s Jr member, and somehow found their way into the hands of a third party. That third party then tried to sell the pictures to Johnny’s Jimusho. The negotiations went on for a while, but the seller eventually kept raising the price to several million Yen (1 million Yen = ~12,400 US$), and the Jimusho finally decided to pull out of the deal because they didn’t think it was worth it.
According to an entertainment industry insider Johnny’s Jimusho has had several different ways to deal with scandals involving their talents in the past. E.g. when in 1999 the Magazine FRIDAY published an article about Oosaka Shunsuke, Anazawa Masahiro, Asakura Kazuo and Omi Kazuki smoking and drinking the four were fired immediately. However, when in 2000 a magazine published pictures of Yamashita Tomohisa smoking a cigarette the Jimusho came to his defense by claiming that an older senpai had forced him to put that cigarette in his mouth but he didn’t actually smoke it. In light of these facts the industry insider is quoted as concluding: “Clearly, Morimoto was hung out to dry.”
The article goes on to explain that even though they haven’t done it in a while the Jimusho has given in to blackmail in the past. But since there is no guarantee that if they pay the blackmailer won’t come back for more it all comes down to a cost-benefit-analysis. Sometimes it’s easier and cheaper to build up a fresh new talent than protecting an established one. It depends on how much of a financial asset the talent in question really is, and in the case of Ryutaro he simply was too small, too unimportant, and not enough of a cash-cow to protect him.
Or in other words: he wasn’t worth it.
So there you go. When the Ryutaro story broke last week some people wondered what would have happened if it had been Yamada or Chinen. My reply to that was that in that case the whole of Hey!Say!JUMP might be on hiatus now. But after reading this article I’m not so sure about that. Maybe if it had been Yamada the Jimusho would have come up with another hilarious excuse like they did with Yamapi. “It’s not what it looks like. He was just pretending. Somebody made him do it.” Something like that.
But not for Ryutaro.
On a side note, I’ve been having a discussion about this with my boyfriend who – shockingly – said he wouldn’t have paid money for those pictures either because you can never know if the blackmailer doesn’t keep a copy of the pictures and will come back for more money somewhere down the road.
I’m no expert on blackmail and extortion or on the Japanese penal law. But here’s how I see it: if you do something like that, if you extort money from a somebody by selling them juicy pictures, you want to make sure that after you’ve done it you get rid of the evidence. Because even if trying to blackmail someone may or may not be a crime, actually doing it definitely is. So if you keep copies of the pictures your victim could just go to the police and have you arrested and indicted. If they search your place and don’t find any copies at least you can deny it all. There is no evidence. But if they do find something then you’re done for. But maybe that’s just the smart criminal in me reasoning here. There probably aren’t that many smart criminals out there.
So anyway, the other day I said that the Jimusho basically threw Ryutaro under the bus, and after reading this article I stand by that more than ever. They could have kept this scandal under wraps. They could have protected Ryutaro. They decided not to. And while I understand their reasoning from a business perspective, from a human perspective I just find it very very sad.
Sad, but not really disappointing. After having been a fan for more than seven years I have no more illusions about Johnny’s Jimusho. They have no interest in being charitable or compassionate, they want to be profitable, and that’s all. They’re not Hagrid. They’re Gollum. And that’s that.

Letter to REVOKE and BRING BACK Ryu
Dear Reader (Johnny’s-san)
Hello, we found out about the scandal of Morimoto Ryutaro and that he’s been suspended indefinitely. We may not know much about Japanese laws since We live on the other side of the worldor we live far away somewhere else, but WE truly, TRULY are Hey!Say!JUMP fans and it’s just not the same with only 9 MEMBERS, It just doesnt feel right. You may be thinking we just making a fuss out of it but it truly breaks our hearts knowing that Hey!Say!JUMP WILL not be complete without Ryutaro, that just breaks our heart.
You may think WE are just writing WORDS, but this WORDS come from deep, DEEP inside our heart….This WORDS are honest…
Ryutaro makes me smiled when I see him smiled and happy,no, not only me, but all HIS FANS…. Seeing him,not active will bring him to NOT smile and sad will NOT make us SMILE it will actully make us SAD….
WE are not saying what he did is RIGHT because it’s WRONG, WE know that, but keep in mind that we ARE HUMANS, in OUR NATURE we are ment to make mistakes so we can learn from them, and YES some makes BIGGER mistakes than others but we LEARN from them…. and that’s what counts, right?

I went to have okonomiyaki with my friends. I’m a “have-someone-fry-it-for-me” person, so I got my friend to fry it for me, the common pork and onion was super good! We also had monja, but both were just the best!

I went to Osaka to watch the Yoshimoto Shinkigeki with my grandpa and them. I love comedy, and my first time watching Shinkigeki was so funny that it was touching. It made me think that live stage is the best.

When I’m at home, I try to save electricity. I also just light up one light in my room, an of course I don’t turn on the air conditioner. Ryu's Incident
- There's an official announcement to independently suspend all his entertainment related activities caused by his underage smoking.
- Ryutaro was admitted himself that he has smoked several times in the past due to his curiosity.
- According to the [Shukan Josei] which is the magazine that reported about his smoking, Ryu has smoked openly in the public places such as toilets and outdoors.
- Another person who accompanied with him at that time also warned him not to smoke by saying "It's going to be in trouble if you were caught.", but Ryu ignored that by saying "It's okay. It's okay." Finally, this caused him an independent suspension
- Ryutaro hasn't been dismissed from the Johnny's entertainment yet. But it might be hard for his return as a group activity. (or in other words, it might be hard for him to return as Hey! Say! JUMP member.)

- UltraPower on 27th was replaced by Yamada & Keito's old recording tape (it's like the re-run) instead of current Ryu&Yuto pair.

- Broadcasting (i think it means Ultra Power radio show in this case) will be abruptly replaced by other members (since the current pair is Ryutoro & Yuto pair)
- One of these articles has mentioned about his brand-named wallet (the white Damier patterned Louis Vuitton) which was placed next to him in the small picture that it might be a gift from Johnny-san. since Johnny-san likes to give cars or brand-named goods as a gift for his favorite talents. and it might be possible for Ryutaro to be given that wallet. However, even he is one of Johnny-san's favorite talent, he still can't get away from the punishment.
(uhhuh~ what a good point haha.. but i think Ryu bought that LV wallet himself. :P)

Yuto I think I’m towards the side that’s bad at enduring.
Ryu That’s true, I don’t think Yuto-kun’s strong with endurance! I mean, when you hit your knees as if it’s a drum and I say “It’s noisy, so stop it”, you still won’t stop for a while.
Yuto If I don’t finish with my own timing, I don’t like it ne (laughs). But Ryutaro can’t really endure either. When you’re pissed off, etc, the emotions show on your face.
Ryu Really? I mean to hide them though. So does this mean we’re the combi that’s weak against endurance?
Yuto But when I can endure, it’s when I want to protect people who are important to me. For example, in a situation where I’m on the way home after work with a member on a crowded train, one seat is open right? And I’m tired too. But at that time, I would think about that other person and say “Sit down.” And just yield [the seat].
Ryu I actually got a seat yielded to me by Yuto-kun in reality!
Yuto At that time, Ryutaro said, “I’ll be getting off first, so Yuto-kun sit.” And in the end, I was the one that sat down though (laughs)

"The reason is that I hate to be in hurry in the morning. In the evening of the day before, I often choose my clothes while watching the weather forecast. There's also the time when I think "Tomorrow, let's mix this with that." on the train home."
Morimoto: I choose the clothes according to the parka.
"Because the item I have the most is a parka, firstly I'll choose which parka I'm going to wear, then the matched bottom, and shoes... I want to choose the shirt from my mood at that time, so I spend 5 minutes choosing after I wake up!"

"Body fitted t-shirt and loose denims make a good balance. In the past, I used to play soccer which made my legs quite big that I can't wear pants with thinned legs. So every pairs [of denim] I have are a loose type that can give a feeling like "Yo!" (laugh)"
Morimoto: Parka + Denim
"I like to wear big sized parka and denim. I intentionally choose a one size bigger, so I can wear them loosely. I have a lot of black and grey parkas as they are basic colors. I don't want to wear only normal jeans, but I also want to try wearing denim overalls like this too!"

I'm not happy at all. I just saw the fax thingy on Johnny's Net about Ryutaro. It's true, he smoked. I'm not going to translate it unless someone wants me, too. It's just sad news. But overall, it said that Ryutaro was just curious and actually smoked a couple of times already. Although he's fine and everything, but he's still underage and Johnny needs to teach him a lesson, so...typically he's banned from any variety shows and stuff like that. Also, he's not going to be in summary, tentatively.

Ryuu Suspended? Can't Believe it!
Hey! Say! JUMP’s youngest member, Morimoto Ryutaro (16), has been suspended indefinitely by his agency, Johnny's Jimusho. This week’s issue of Shukan Josei published photos of Morimoto smoking, in violation of Japan’s laws as he is still under the legal smoking age of 20.
The magazine published two separate photos, one taken in January 2010 (when Morimoto was 14) and the other taken in May 2010 (when Morimoto was 15). According to a source familiar with the matter, Morimoto has been smoking openly for a long time, and there have been people warning him that it would be bad if he was found out, but Morimoto always brushed it off without worry.
Johnny’s Jimusho stated that when it confirmed the matter personally, Morimoto acknowledged that he has smoked several times in the past out of curiosity. As a result, the agency has placed his entertainment activities on hold indefinitely.
Hey! Say! JUMP will continue as a 9-member group for now. Their next single, “OVER,” will still be released on June 29 as planned, but the CD’s jacket photo will be changed to remove Morimoto. Their summer show “SUMMARY” (August 7 – September 11) will be performed with only 9 members.
