Gokusen 2: Review and Quotes

I finished watching it, and I must tell it was awesome!




Review


The main storyline is still the same. Yamaguchi Kumiko gets another class of boys who act like delinquents, look for trouble and refuse to believe in their teachers. But she will win their hearts, one by one, and little by little. Just like in “Gokusen” (the 1st season) she has a crush on a man (who is this time a teacher), but she doesn’t confess and her love is not be reciprocated. Some scenes are also repetitive: she always comes in the last moment to stop her students from fighting or being beaten to death, protecting them like a lioness.

However, new flavour is added. And this would be Akame, my newest OTP. Between them there is a strong bond that I believe (and wish) it exists outside of the drama as well.

Yabuki Hayato (played by Jin) is the leader of 3-D, the most terrifying class from Kurogin Gakuen. Even though he is the head of the group, he is too reckless and impulsive to lead them alone and take decisions on his own. This is where Odagiri Ryu (played by Kazuya) comes. The calm, levelheaded boy complements the other, and represents a vital part of the gang. He’s the one who is reasoning and makes Yabuki think twice.

Unfortunately, the drama finds them in bad terms with each other. They have severed ties after Ryu bowed in front of another school’s gang leader, pleading for an agreement so that they won’t be forced to fight (as previously planned by the leaders of the bands). This is what Yankumi finds from one of their friend, Takeda Keita, in her desperate race to bring Odagiri back to school. But Ryu had a good reason to do that. He did it because Takeda asked him to since the last one was not prepared for a fight at all. Yabuki has never known of these two friends' deal. This is why he considers Ryu a coward all the while.

Then, Yankumi manages to bring Odagiri back to school, after fighting a band of outlaws whom he had to work for. Back to this place where he has to face Yabuki’s hard words and sneaky remarks, Ryu doesn’t do anything but to stubbornly remain silent about his past actions. Takeda will not stand the guilt he feels when he sees Ryu being treated like this and he tells his classmates and Yankumi the truth. Exactly that day Yabuki doesn’t enter the class and remains in the hallway, eavesdropping. The feels a strong remorse and goes to meet the other leader of the trouble gang. He is decided to let them beat him, in order for his classmates not to be beaten up by them again. He was “sacrificing” himself. But Ryu foresees that after Hayato’s bag is found in the hallway, and goes there to help him. Exactly on time, one would say. This is comradeship. This is friendship.

It felt so good watching them, soothing whenever “Kizuna” started playing, or when the characters showed how they felt. However, the fighting scenes were always hard to watch. The first time I saw a fanvid about “Gokusen 2” (which had “Kizuna” as background music), I remember that I froze when Hayato hit Ryu “out of thin air”. And then the fight with Ara high-schoolers. I cringed seeing Hayato and Ryu on the floor, being beaten up by those. I’m not really sensitive when I see a fight scene in a movie. But seeing these particular scenes, with Hayato and Ryu, really hurt me. I mean seeing them beaten up like that … hurt. Like hell.

It was sad and painful only watching those scenes, but it also felt a bit nice, knowing that were actually protecting something close to their hearts: friends and bonds. I dare to say that it even sounds “appealing”: protecting something or somebody with your own body and with your own blood. I mean, is there something else you could do more? Protecting something with your own life. I think it’s a supreme thing. You can’t do more as a human being.

Scratches, bruises, and injuries become rewards. And they are enough.

Review


She is the fourth successor of a Yakuza family, but she is decided not to take over the family business. She wants to follow her dead father's steps and become a great teacher. This is how she ends up as the home-room teacher of 3-D, a Shirokin High School class where any calm is out of question. You would think: are those kids really that heartless? Yankumi knows they are not. Step by step, she discovers that beneath the masks, pure hearts are hiding, ready to fight for their dearest ones, ready to protect them. And she does the same thing. she risks everything to be there for them, to take care and prevent. Everytime her students are threatened, or in danger, she switches to Yakuza
mode, and the happy-go-lucky girl becomes a fearless lioness, ready to harm anyone who wants to touch her precious students. But, fighting is not the only thing she does. She also takes the time to teach the students life lessons, to tell them about things that really matter in life. She tells them about friendship, about bonds, about love, which are the keys of life, not mathematics, or English, or correct Kanji-s. She is a true teacher, one that will win the rebellious students' hearts.

A wonderful drama I highly recommend! ♥

And here are my dearest reasons for started watching Gokusen. At first, I wanted to skip the first season and run to watch "Gokusen 2" for Akame, (which is my newest, favourite OTP. ^.^' ), but after finding out that Matsuyama Ken'ichi plays in the fist season, I couldn't do that anymore. I had to watch it!

Matsumoto Jun was as awesome in a "bad guy" role as always!! Gosh, it reminded me of Domyouji Tsukasa, though he was much more serious in this drama! :) This boy was born to be an actor! And then, there was the so much talented Oguri Shun, with his lovely hair ^.^ I melted while seeing this:

Oh! My! Gawd! i am very touched for the 3rd time i watched Gokusen: The Movie. It is great that Reita and the other new 3D already accepted her. Yankumi's students are the best! When Ren was missing ex-3D earnestly looked for him, when Yankumi was in great danger everyone came to rescue her.

Everyone, we're sorry for causing a commotion during this last day of us being here but we have a reason, we went to protect something important to us.

Anyway, Congratulations to all of us for graduating!

Firstly, I want to thank the chairman because you always give us second chances, that led us to realize that we can start over anytime we want and lead to the right path, thank you very much. Head teacher, even though you are strict and always says that we are bunch of hopeless kids and are trash you still gave us the guidance that we need to prevent us from being rebels, you also has a soft spot even though you don't allow us to see that, thank you very much head teacher. To all the teachers, thank you, even though it is just recently that you started accepting us still thank you, before you always say something bad about us behind our backs but we know that you cannot accept us because of our looks and attitudes but then when she came, 3D started to change, Yankumi thank you, if you didn't became our teacher maybe half of the class or more are already expelled and cannot attend this graduation right now.

Maybe Ren was already expelled because of false accusation, Ichi was already expelled for punching an Aoshiba student with a reason, Kura will always be a coward and will not protect his someone, Hongo will still be fooling around while his dad is on a bad case, Kamiya will always misunderstand the meaning of strength, Yamato was already out of this school for being involved in something he didn't do, maybe Hamaguchi, Matsukata, Murayama, Yoshida and Yamamato was still involved with a dangerous group, they all change... we all change because of you being here, not judging us by the way we are outside, not putting ranks on us and accepting us as what we are not by our outside looks, academics and our attitude, thank you Yankumi.

And thank you to this school, Akadou, because in this very school we found our long life friends and we found out the different characters of our classmates. You wouldn't know just by looking that someone from 3D will do anything just to make his sister happy, will do anything just to cover up for his friend's mistake, will do something rash just to protect his beloved person, will do anything to protect his honor and pride, will do anything just to repay his father and someone who will do anything just to not make his friends worried about him, those are the hidden characters of class 3D, they might be common for other people but for us that is rare, because by that we realized that even if people around us might not understand us but there are friends who can understand you.

At first, not a single student in 3D believe a teacher or an adult, they always got into fights without reason, we might be happy that time because we can do anything we want but if you take a close look at us before, you will see that no one is happy, the pictures of 3D in their freshman years are very gloomy, but when Yankumi came in our life, we changed, we even joined events that we just ignored before, Akadou Sport Festival, Akadou Festival, Senior Trip and many more that is because we want to make some memories of us having fun during our High School days and being a student here in Akadou.

3D might be the most useless class here in Akadou but still we are very thankful becauuse here in this school we found friends who will be always there for you even if we graduate and a teacher that will stake her own life just for the sake of her precious students. Arigatou Gozaimasu!
