I seriously have a bad habit of wanting to translate when an exam comes close.. not the best habit for me and my marks, but readers might like it >_< . Okay, they say dokidoki sooo many times in this and it's awkward to translate sometimes so if you don't have any idea what it is, tough luck. [it's an onomatopoeia for the heartbeat like thump thump but it's often used as an adjective describing excitement or just experiences when your heart beats faster.. that's the best I can do for a definition, sorry]

Love at 1st Sight
Q. What color is love at first sight?

Arioka: Pink
When you fall in love at first sight, your eyes turn into hearts like in manga right (laugh) Even if it's only once, I want to have a fated meeting.

Takaki: White (Dokidoki love is a pure colour)
Love at first sight is the situation where you've just met and you don't know anything about her right!? Something like that is white. From there it will probably change into another color... If the girl is cool, maybe black, if she's girly maybe pink.

Yabu: Yellow (A shining yellow love)
Love at first sight is like... it's here! So bright! I give in~! A bright yellow image like that (laugh) Guys are simple, so they probably think there are lots of beautiful people in the world, while going through every day. (laugh) [aww, so cute!]

Inoo: Red
Maybe red. It comes suddenly and flares up, a feeling just like fireworks!

Yaotome: Black
When you dilute the black in ink, you can get a variety of colors like red and green. Just like that, you can gradually learn about her color.

Takaki: Pink
One sided love is fun. Just by looking at her, your heart beats so quickly. That's why it's rightly pink. [so... experienced]

Learning about all her different colors, "one sided love." Ah, but basically, I'm the type that doesn't say anything, like when I was young, I was vexed that the girl I liked didn't face me. Even though I thought my crush was already found out. (laugh)

Arioka: Yellow
When you're in a one sided love, it's exciting. There are lots of things to worry about, but it's fun!! That's why it's yellow.

Yabu: Aquamarine
Because you work so hard for it to become mutual, it's surprisingly fun!!

Inoo: Blue (Even if it's no good, I want to throw my feelings out there!)
There are people who think one sided love is fun, [haha, the above ↑] but I still think it's lonely. Even if it's no good, I want to throw my feelings out there. When I was in kindergarten, I had a one sided crush on the girl who gave me a new years card (laugh)

Q. What color is the dokidoki when confessing?

Inoo: White (I want to clearly express my feelings)
You take one word from 告白 (confession), and you get 白 (white) (laugh) It's nerve-wracking, but I want to clearly say it. Like studying together at the library and then just confessing. But at a library, it's kind of quite so it'll be very noticeable.. oh well (laugh)

Takaki: Red
A red like the burning flames. In my ideals, if I like her, I'll just say "I love you"

Yabu: Red
For confessions, there has to be the energy, "I'm fired up!" [burning just sounds rather.. tenipuri~] so it's red.

Arioka: Blue
When you're waiting for her reply, it seems you'd turn blue (laugh) If I confess, I'd like to hear the reply right away.

Yaotome: Orange (A bit questionable like a mini light bulb)
It shines in a questionable condition, if rejected, it fades out right away. But if it gets an OK, it'll suddenly brighten, the miniature light bulb. I think the dokidoki you get when confessing is really special! [looks like he's had some bad experiences with circuits!]

Dating
Q. What color is the exciting first date?

Inoo: Orange
If I'm taking out the girl I like on a date, somewhere active would be good. Pretty scenery is also admirable ne.

Takaki: Yellow
A satisfied and happy yellow color [like this: ´▽｀] The exciting feeling during a first date is pretty high.

Arioka: Orange
A happy orange. If I'm going on a date, I'd ideally want to decide the date course before going!

Yabu: Rainbow color (Let's enjoy the happenings!)
On a date, it could've been fun or you could've argued, because there are lots of things = there are lots of colors, so it's rainbow (laugh) A date includes all the happenings yo!

Yaotome: Green (A natural and healing color)
A really natural color. Because a date with the girl you like is really healing right!? Ideally, something like, "Just being together is nice."

Heart break
Q. What color is a heartbreak?

Arioka: Black (a gaping hole might just open in my heart)
Because a hole might open in my heart, it's black. But maybe I'll be fine even if I'm heartbroken. I think I'm the type to recover quickly. I'll talk to my friends about it and then forget about it!

Inoo: Purple (My heart will be heavy and not recover)
Maybe purple. If I get heartbroken, I can't really recover, a heavy feeling. I try really hard to be optimistic, but at that time, the ones who help you out the most are friends. I feel better by talking about stupid things with them, they really help me.

Yaotome: Black
Different from the black when meeting, a color when reduced to zero again.

Takaki: Blue
The color of tears. But blue also carries the image of the sky. That's why I want to believe in tomorrow's happiness after I cry. Isn't everyone like that!?

Yabu: Pink
Since there must still feelings for the other person in your heart, the color closest to white is pink!! [aww, he's so cute]

Jealousy
Q. The color of your heart when you feel jealousy?

Inoo: Pink (The principle color of love, pink is jealousy!)
Jealousy is love!? That's why it's the loving pink. But it's only human to get jealous over the person you like ne (laugh)

Takaki: Black
Jealousy is a dark emotion, that's why it's black. If there's trust, there is no jealousy.

Yaotome: Red
Like the burning flames of love, a positive jealousy. A red with the image of Shou-san from "ikemen desu ne" (laugh)

Arioka: Purple (If she's hiding something, that would be a shock!)
It's not relieving, but a hazy feeling, so maybe purple. But because it's the girl I like, I'll definitely feel jealousy. I'll probably feel gloomy and jealous if she's hiding something.

Yabu: Green
Not a sad blue, nor a bright yellow. Those two colors blended together make green.

Wedding
Q. Your ideal wedding color?

Arioka: White (A new start in life)
Because marriage is something like a new starting line, it's white. I also want to someday take my kids to the park or take a bath with them ♪ I seem like I'll make a good dad right (laugh)

Yabu: White
Wedding color of white. Once we're married, it'd be the best if it turned into a happy color!

Inoo: Green
Like raising our relationship, I think getting married is a calming feeling.

Bringing two people to the ocean like a new journey and setting sail, that's the image I get.

This is the time of the year where I would always wonder "how could these smell so good!"
The scent feels like Autumn is progressing; and when the cold temperature embraces the skin, it feels like one is immersed in loneliness...

I guess that's the good point of Autumn! You get to be sentimental and all..

Well then, let's proceed to recent news!

I bought a new twin pedal!

You thought "It's sparkling so much!!!" right? This pedal and plate could be a mirror!

Appearance-wise, it looks good, and it's efficient as well! You can move smoothly, and the power it sends straight to the bass produces such a strong sound!

But since it's so smooth it rebounds to the beater, I loosened the angle of the spring so that even a small stroke won't stick out!

Next. let's talk about drumsticks!

I have been using the same stick since forever, even if it's heavy lately, because I've been so familiar with it, and it's my personal favorite!

It's tight on the hands when I strike so I love it!

And, here are the striking, kira-kira drumstick-kuns! I've started to use them on SUMMARY!

That water-colored one was used on "Mizu no Kuni", that red one was for Magic Power. Can you tell?

Kira-kira's nice right? The size and weight is 5B!

And that second drumstick from the right is a bit different. When you strike, you could hear your own sound so it's fun! It's also light so kids can use them too!

And, the rightmost is the brush for the electric drums that could be used for Jazz and the like!

Well, those are the kinds of drumsticks I use!

Also, it's kind of old news already, but I power-upped Cajon-kun!

I put on the name, it's cajon-kun, armored version!

There's a cymbal attached to the rod, so it makes it look like a tambourine, and on the bottom box near the heels, if you hit it, it goes "Kachi!"

It's still a bit difficult to use, but at least I have a growing variation of sounds so it's fun!

Well, in the end all I talked about was percussion instruments!

July day – Watched [PLAYZONE]
I went to watch the joyful [PLAYZONE] and saw Yuma who I haven’t seen for a while. He seemed to be energetic and working very hard. I felt more relieved after seeing that. When I went to his resting room, Yuma said [“Yamada-kun, eat this!”] and he gave me a peach. I ate that peach straight away, it was very sweet and tasty!

August day – Summer is of course about ice-cream!
In [SUMMARY’S] rest room, we were given a lot of [Gyugyuto] ice-cream of which I did a CM for. We all ate them happily (laughs). It tasted even better than usual because we ate them after sweating a lot on stage (laughs). Eating ice-cream in summer is really the best!

August day – played about 10 hours worth of games with my little sister
2 days of breaks, it’s rare that I stay at home. I usually don’t play games, so I wonder why I broke that boundary and played for around 10 hours with my little sister (laughs). I don’t know how to explain it, but I did more watching than playing. But the truth is my shoulder gets really sore, it’s very tiring~

August day – shopping list for autumn items
That day I went shopping after SUMMARY. Sometimes there are items on promotion, so I bought some autumn clothing. It was a brown jacket with an orange-yellow shade and it had some folds. And then I also bought a cloak-styled outfit for my little sister because she wanted it. She was really excited.

August day – this summer’s hairstyle is one complete fail
I cut my hair a bit too short (laughs). In [SUMMARY] performances during summer, I’ll sweat a lot, so I wanted to reduce the amount I sweat. Otherwise once the sweat starts to come out, my fringe will become like a curtain. Although everyone has said that it looks alright perhaps there is just that tiny bit of failure, but still, it’ll grow longer again in winter.

August day – got scared by supernatural events
Some supernatural things appeared at my home, and everyone got scared. At places where there is no one you can hear walking sounds, and the rattling sound from the bin. When I was home alone, in the toilet I heard a voice shouting [OI]! And then my dogs started barking furiously. I got so scared that I didn’t come out of the toilet.

August day – eating in the middle of trying to lose weight
Although I’ve said it before, [I’m not going to eat anything after 6pm], I still went ahead and ate something straight after. Even though it lasted for a few months (the plan to lose weight), in the end I wasn’t able to stand the feeling of starvation so I ate a sandwich. I felt bad about not being able to make any new records and at the same time making a goal that I must keep on continuing the weight loss challenge!

The living room became oriental-styled
Recently, the living room at home was changed. We chose a style that looks more oriental (or more Asian, whichever one makes more sense to you). The new sofa is made of cotton materials, it really suits my taste. How will it become in the future? Let’s look forward to it.

Are You Ready?

Presenting Hey! Say! JUMP, who, with much experience in both stage plays and concerts, emit a strong presence as entertainers. They are also extremely busy polishing their performances for the additional shows of SUMMARY 2011. From the members, we present Yabu Kota, Yaotome Hikaru, Arioka Daiki, Yamada Ryousuke and Chinen Yuuri! We will also present the voices captured on the energetic shooting location filled with smiles.



How do you spend your time before a live performance starts?

Chinen: During the free time between the first and second shows of Summary within the same day, there were many occasions when all of the members slept. There's a tatami room in our dressing area, so we put down futons and took naps. It not only recharges stamina in a short time, after sleeping, the live that we did an hour before feels like it was quite some time ago, and we can move on to the next show with a new feel.

Yamada: Usually by doing muscle training or sleeping. Apart from that, I'd be stocking up energy by eating the catered food. After a period of live shows I would slim down by 2kg, so there's no problem with eating a lot before it! (T/N: I wish I had your metabolism rate, Yamada, I really wish I did.)

Yaotome: I'd eat or chat with the members. Also, if there's a 2nd performance on the same day, amongst the members we schedule a nap time (laughs). Even if we sleep for only thirty minutes we feel refreshed!



What kind of state do you go into when you're "preparing" your mood?

Chinen: The longer the waiting time before appearing, I start thinking about a lot of things and begin to break under the pressure. I mean, if the waiting time before riding a roller coaster is long, one would gradually get more afraid, right?! I'm more of the type back in school who would do the singing test first, just to get it over with quickly. For concerts too, the later my solo is, I end up thinking about this and that more, and get to a MAX nervous state. So it might be better if I had a short mental preparation time.

Arioka: Compared to others, my "switch" seems to turn on a little later, even when we are not on standby, it doesn't show on my face... Though my heart is beating like crazy but you can't notice it (laughs)

Yabu: I feel nervous before a performance around the first day or so, but I can't calm down no matter what I do, so I listen to songs by my favourite artist, sing loudly in the shower (T/N: Now this I'd like to see. Not the shower bit I mean. The singing bit. Really!) and prepare for the opening. Even if I don't do any mental preparation, the moment I step onto stage and meet the fans, it's unbelievable but I naturally become 100% prepared.



When do you start preparing for trips?

Chinen: For the school trip some time back, I prepared the night before. I'm pretty good at packing luggage so I finished packing everything in about thirty minutes! For overseas trips I always bring one more set of Western style clothing for all sorts of situations. Though I might also be the type to be like "someone else amongst the members should be bringing this..." and end up not bringing that item and borrowing it from the members (laughs)

Yamada: I would be really excited about the trip so I would start preparing 3 days before leaving and do simulations (T/N: Japanese would say "simulation" meaning image training. In this case, Yamada's imagining i.e. "simulating" his trip)

Arioka: I usually pack a lot of things, have thoughts like "ahhh, I should have brought this" and want to bring all of my things, so I prepare everything properly the night before. I also prepare chargers for my phone and digital camera, and medication for eyes and stomach.

Yabu: I start packing the day before. I'll definitely check the map of the area around my hotel from travel magazines! Since I was much younger I've always loved looking at maps. To make sure that I don't get lost at the actual place, I drill the landmarks or road names into my memory so that I can start sightseeing right away.



For SUMMARY, do you do any stamina training?

Yamada: I do a eating restriction, and try not to eat after 6pm. I started 3 months ago and lost 5kg, and now my body fat content is about 5~7%!! I definitely got lighter, and can move more agilely. (T/N: Ugh =___= enough weight loss talk /considers own failed diet.)

Arioka: I try not to miss out on stretching after taking a bath. If I do this daily routine before I sleep, somehow recently I've found it easier to fall asleep!

Yaotome: Normally I'm already doing body training, so I take note of my diet more. With my recent addiction, yuzu ponzu (T/N: A sauce containing soy sauce and vinegar or citrus juice) I try to intake balanced meals mainly with vegetables, and I'm getting my stamina from miso ramen which I love, eating it for 4 meals a day. (T/N: Firstly, 4 meals?! Secondly, he really doesn't get tired of it...)



Are you the type to read and correct your replies to mails before sending them off?

Chinen: Hmm I wonder! I think I would check mails if they had important content. For friends, I don't want to seem like I'm taking a lot of time and want to send off the replies quickly, so I don't check over them.

Yamada: No no, I send them without reading it again every time. After I send it, I'll be like "Ohhh~!?" and even though I spot typos in kanji due to auto-correct and things like that, I'd go "Well, whatever!" (laughs).

Yaotome: I tend to send it off right after I finish typing the contents, and my friends have pointed out that I make a lot of typos. I'm the type that, after sending the message, goes "Oh man, I've done it again." when I see the message being shown.



What would you do if you could see the future?

Chinen: I'd like to try looking at myself 10 years later. Like, what kind of things I would be doing... Apart from that, I'd also like to confirm properly if I had really grown taller (laughs).

Yamada: I'd like to see if I had really gotten married. I'd like to get married, and since I grew up with a nice balance with my older sister and younger sister, I want 3 kids. I want to be like my parents, still going to theme parks and playgrounds and shopping with us, and whom we get along really well with.

Arioka: I want to see the completed Sagrada Familia, a World Heritage Site in Spain. I'm charmed by the fact that construction began 129 years ago and it has yet to be completed for a long time. The neighbourhood around it would likely change too, and it feels like my view on life would change if I could see it in person.

Yaotome: I'm more interested in the state-of-the-art technologies than my own self. I wonder how far anti-crime technologies would have progessed... Also, it would be nice if heating could be adjusted accordingly with a person's changing body temperature.

Yabu: If I knew about the future, the days that come along would feel boring, so I wouldn't want to look... I'd like to return to the past though (laughs). Wouldn't it be the best to be able to return to the really fun moments in life?



Who do you feel is your best ally?

Arioka: I think with the members' presence, I feel stronger. They can be caring and let me confide in them, and I'm with them for longer periods of time than with my family, so they have a special place in my heart.



When you are tired, how do you relax?

Yaotome: I don't sleep with the air-conditioning on, but sleep with a water pillow! When my head is cool it goes all through my body. Because it feels great and it also saves electricity, it's killing two birds with one stone!



How do you keep your motivation up when you have schedules that have many shows, like SUMMARY?

Yabu: For every show, I do something on stage to hype up. Apart from that, I take naps between shows even if it's only for 20mins to recharge and prepare for the 2nd show.



Are there any food items that you have found tasty recently?

Yabu: I used to really really hate tomatoes, but my friend was eating it like it was something really delicious, and somehow I got a bit envious and stuffed my mouth full of tomatoes to get rid of my hatred for it, and somehow I got used to the taste (laughs). From then on I've been hooked on tomatoes, and I'm researching on how to cook them to make them really yummy. Nowadays I like eating them simply salted.



What would be something that a girl tells you that would make you happy?

Yaotome: "You've put on weight!"
Chinen: "You're cute~"
Yamada: "You have a great smile!"
Arioka: "You're manly!!" (T/N: BRB LMAO'ING TO DEATH.)
Yabu: "You're reliable!"



A recent lucky encounter?

Yabu: I went shopping after deciding on a budget, but luckily there was a sale going on at the shop, and thanks to that I got to buy one more piece of apparel! That was really lucky!!

Arioka: I thought I was gonna be late for the train and was all "I probably won't be able to catch it..." and was about to give up while dashing a little. But somehow the train that I take often was late by about 2 minutes and I managed to catch it!

Yamada: I was happy that I managed to do my Ethics test well even though I studied the day before!

Chinen: One of the dances in SUMMARY 2011 had dance steps that were a little difficult but I managed to remember them in a surprisingly short time, so that was lucky.

Yaotome: When I bought clothes, I got two other sample products at really affordable prices!



A recent unlucky encounter?

Yabu: The back cover of my phone charger got detached recently and I lost it... How it became so easily removable, well actually it's because I've dropped it thrice before (cries).

Arioka: The T-shirt that I wanted got sold out... I was told that only the ladies version was left and I tried it on. It did fit, however, the design on the sleeves was kinda girly so it's a shame. (T/N: Oh Daiki.)

Yamada: I had only 500yen in my wallet (laughs), and I had to buy this set of clothes that I wanted, so I went searching for a bank frantically, but it closed earlier than usual and I couldn't withdraw any money.

Chinen: I don't really have any unlucky encounters, but I had to name one, it would be that I arrived at the meeting point too early, and our manager's car hadn't even arrived yet...

Yaotome: I'm really attractive to mosquitoes, and even today I got bitten thrice during shooting, it's seriously itchy!! I have a higher tendency compared to others to get bitten in the same place...



Come on! The routinary thing to do for summer! SUMMARY 2011 opens!

The entertainment show that can be enjoyed by both young and old, guys and girls has opened since 8th July in Tokyo Dome City Hall. It is a show filled with spectacular acts like tight rope walking, trapeze, Japanese taiko, marching formations and juggling. SUMMARY 2011 is a must-see show, which Hey! Say! JUMP will give their all to present.

Chinen: We can feel closer to than fans than before, and there's a lot of spirit. I'll work hard to not fail like last year at the flying trapeze!

Yamada: As it is a venue for fans to see all the members with acts that fit our individual personalities, please do look forward to seeing how much we have grown!

Yaotome: We will present a show that will not pale in comparison to last year's show, so I think it would be nice if we could make the best summer memories with the audience and the members.

Yabu: There are many acts that cannot be done if we don't become one as a group, so we are really giving our all for every show. In the one month we would be performing at Tokyo Dome City Hall, I want to create a good flow for the show, so that we can bring an explosive show to Kyocera and Tokyo Dome.

Arioka: We have upgraded many of the acts compared to the acts last year, to make it into a show that even people who have already watched it once can enjoy, so please do make your way to SUMMARY 2011.
